The finish time will depend on the weather.
- Jennifer Connor
The Water Above All project has come to fruition with support from the shire and the Lockhart Progress Association and work began on Wednesday last week.
Artists Scott Nagg and Janne Birkner of the Blue Mountains have been tasked with the responsibility of adding the colourful mural to the tower.
Lockhart Shire tourism and economic development officer Jennifer Connor said it was expected the mural could be complete in two to three weeks.
However, that would be dependent on the weather. If rain, which would be welcomed given the dry season, arrived the finish date could be pushed out further.
“The finish time will depend on the weather,” Mrs Connor said.
The project cost around $28,000 and was supported by sponsorship and the initial funds boost came with $5000 raised by the progress association. It is anticipated the mural will draw in interest at the town from tourists and visitors.
Mrs Connor said the artwork would be officially launched on October 12.
Social media is already portraying the artwork.
Local photographer Robyn Dowdle has captured an image of “two brolga” birds which have already been painted.
