A Victorian man has been charged with 11 offences after he allegedly drove more than 800 kilometres from Melbourne to Sydney in a stolen vehicle. The 30-year-old man was picked up by a ride sharing service on Inglis Avenue in Seaford in Melbourne's southeast at 3:15am on Saturday, November 21. Fifteen minutes into the trip, the man requested the driver stop and allegedly produced a handgun, threatened the driver and demanded the driver leave the car, according to NSW Police. The driver complied and the man drove from the scene in a black Audi sedan, leaving the ride share driver on the roadside. Victoria Police contacted NSW Police after receiving information the man may have crossed the NSW border. The Audi sedan was spotted by NSW Police travelling north on the Hume Motorway near Pheasants Nest in the Macarthur Region of NSW later that morning. A PolAir helicopter tracked the vehicle as it travelled along the Hume Motorway, onto Narellan Road, and through suburbs including Spring Farm, Narellan and Bringelly. IN OTHER NEWS: Police finally intercepted the man at the intersection of Cowpasture Road and Camden Valley Way in Leppington in Sydney's southwest at 12pm on Saturday. Aerial footage shows the moment a black police SUV rammed the Audi sedan off the road, before two other police vehicles surrounded it. The man was arrested and allegedly found with a knife, a resealable bag containing a substance believed to be methylamphetamine, and counterfeit cash, which have been been seized for forensic examination. He was taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences including drive manner dangerous, drive under the influence of drugs, take and drive conveyance without consent, fail to pay (x 2), drive whilst suspended, custody of knife, possess prohibited drug, enter inclosed lands without consent, goods in custody, and possess counterfeit money. The Victorian man, from Cranbourne, was refused police bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday (20 November 2021), where he was formally refused bail. He will reappear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday.
