The opening round the previous week was also affected, with just two of the five matches getting a result leaving the season very much in the unknown.
Cricket Albury-Wodonga Hume clubs are also having to contend with some ground unavailability in the first half of the season.
Culcairn, Henty, and Holbrook's main ovals are all being resurfaced by Greater Hume Shire and are not expected to be available until the new year.
Fortunately, all three towns have other venues to play on, with Billabong High School Oval being the Culcairn home base.
Henty will use Paech Oval, adjacent to the golf course, as its home base (the club has used this ground often in recent years).
While Holbrook has the benefit of its two grounds at Ten Mile Creek Recreation ovals - Peter Stead Oval and Leo Mackinlay Oval, which are alongside each other.
The Brocklesby and Burrumbuttock grounds are used on alternative days by the Saints leaving one of those grounds as an option for other clubs.
While in the northern part of the competition, The Rock Yerong Creek has two grounds at its disposal.
The Yerong Creek recreation complex has a turf wicket adjacent to the bowls club and a synthetic wicket on the football ground.
CAW Chairman Michael Erdeljac said despite a few difficulties, the clubs seem pretty happy with the final fixture.
"The clubs have been extremely cooperative in relocating home games and know that it is for only a short period of time," Erdeljac said.
"To have three main venues (Culcairn, Henty and Holbrook) have playing surfaces re-surfaced is a fantastic result for those communities.
"It will only add to what is already a fantastic competition that has been great for cricket in our region," Erdeljac said.
Into its third season after the merger of the Brocklesby DCA and the Holbrook DCA, it is proving to be one of the most successful in the region.
Ten teams make up the division one fixture, while nine teams are again competing in division two.
Rand (Div 1) and Holbrook (Div 2) have won both titles thus far in the first two years.
Meanwhile, in the Hume football league, last year's runners-up Brock-Burrum Saints have signed former Henty forward Damian Cupido as assistant coach.
Cupido, a genuine footballing journeyman, played six seasons of football at the highest level at both Essendon and Brisbane.
Cupido's career has seen him play at almost twenty different clubs. The 38-year-old knocked back several offers from Riverina and north-east Victorian clubs.
He will be co-assistant coach under Kade Stevens and will share his role with 2019 Azzi medal winner Matt Seiter.
Osborne defeated the Saints in the 2019 decider after finishing minor premiers. Cupido will be a good replacement for last year's leading goalkicker at the club, John Spencer.
Spencer, who kicked 39 goals in 2019, has linked up with Ovens and King club North Wangaratta where he will be an assistant coach.
