The Goannas won by 25 points after starting better and, apart from a third-quarter rally, they never looked like losing in an entertaining clash.
George Kendall was a constant worry for the Osborne defence finishing with four goals, while his brother Lachie booted two goals.
It was the Goannas' first win for the season after going down to Leeton Whitton in round one. Osborne beat Wagga in round one.
MCU made the early running and took a 33-point lead into half-time, with Osborne looking anything but the slick unit of the previous week.
Osborne received a boost pre-match when coach Joel Mackie, Elliot Powell and Zach Bye were granted permission to play by AFL Riverina after the lifting of border-based player restrictions.
Their inclusion, however, did not reflect on the scoreboard as all three had little or no impact in the first half before a third-quarter comeback was staged.
Mackie, unfortunately for his new club, suffered a hamstring injury early in the game and after leaving the field for treatment returned as a permanent forward.
A good old-fashioned half-time rev up got the Ostriches moving as they added five goals to one for the term with Mackie and Matt Rava kicking two each.
Osborne dominated the centre clearances and stoppages and looked to be set to run over the home side in the final term.
MCU, however, regained the ascendancy with George Kendall standing tall with two goals and Trent Cohalan another in a three-goal to nothing finish.
Nick Perryman and skipper Duncan McMaster were again excellent for Osborne who has their first home game this Saturday against GGGM.
The Lions suffered a heartbreaking one-point loss at Ganmain on Saturday against Wagga Tigers.
Tigers' Luke Gestier, who has signed for Holbrook when Hume FL restarts, kicked his fifth goal with just seconds left in the game.
It was the first time all match that the Tigers had hit the front after GGGM had led by almost four goals with 10 minutes left.
Gestier was best afield after playing half the game down back. His return to his customary forward role reaped five goals in a game-winning move.
Former GGGM and Henty juniors Sam and Nick Murray played well, with Sam having his first game in almost two years.
He played well early but faded in the second half. Nick was a great target up forward kicking four goals. Matt Neagle was best for the Lions.
Leeton Whitton remains the only unbeaten side after they thrashed Turvey Park at Leeton in a high-scoring clash by 71 points.
Turvey Park remain on the bottom without a win, while the other four teams all have a win and a loss in the six-week shortened season.
The Crows jumped the Bulldogs with an eight goal opening quarter. They did, however, suffer several injuries finishing the match with just 16 players on the ground.
