Nick is working long hours on a Yerong Creek farm and training mainly by himself while Sam is based in Melbourne working under a personal fitness trainer.
The pair consider themselves "chances'' of finding new homes but far from certainties.
Nick finds weighing hundreds of lambs, cleaning out silos and harvesting a timely distraction.
"It keeps your mind busy which is good," Murray said.
"I'm a bit nervous about the draft after talking to two or three clubs, but I haven't got a lot of time to think about footy while I'm working."
Nick has been running with several of his Henty mates and will start pre-season training with former club Wangaratta Rovers next week.
He made the trek to Melbourne last weekend to catch up with Sam.
"We're both trying to get on to lists so we talk about it a fair bit," Nick said.
"The same AFL club has interviewed both of us so it will be interesting to see if that works out. I did a session with Sam last week and it was probably one of the hardest ones I've ever done, the personal trainer he's got is ridiculously good."
Sam is desperate to be redrafted after being delisted from Collingwood following a 12-month ASADA ban.
Nick split his time between Wangaratta Rovers and Greater Western Sydney's NEAFL side last season with the former Murray Bushrangers' co-captain spending most of his time in defence.
"I enjoyed the year," he said.
"I started in the GWS Academy and Wang Rovers and then played with AFL-listed players like Matt Buntine and Aidan Corr in the NEAFL whom I learned a lot off."
IN OTHER NEWS:
If Nick is overlooked in this month's AFL draft, he plans to move to Melbourne and test himself in the VFL.
"Hopefully I get drafted but if I don't I'll play VFL," he said.
"I'd regret it if I didn't give it a go."
A third Murray sibling is on the way with Toby, who is 16 and 194-centimetres, recently making the Murray Bushrangers training squad.
