Money allocated and distributed by CWA to those in drought-affected areas currently stands at approximately $13.2 million. This extraordinary amount comprises the branches' contributions to the CWA Disaster Relief Fund and also money from other generous donors.
The idea of "Pamper Packs" was born, whereby cosmetic bags were purchased and filled with toiletries, cosmetics and other little treats for women affected by such tough seasonal conditions.
The popularity of these packs was such that the Riverina Group of CWA may make this a group project and make Pamper Packs for Christmas and bring a little hope to all those women out there severely impacted by the ravages of drought who may not buy such "luxuries" for themselves.
If anyone would like to contribute small items, unused toiletries, cosmetics or money to purchase these articles, please contact Lyn Jacobsen on 0428 690 222 or lyn.jacobsen@bigpond.com.
Good news for the Harrison family of Henty. Their son, Sam, previously named player of the Riverina, won a gold medal at the Tweed Heads Australian Schools Super Series (Lawn Bowls Championships) playing for NSW.
NSW walked away with five medals after the individual discipline finals. The NSW 'Blue' side collected two gold medals in the Triples and Fours, NSW 'Green' won the Fours silver medal and NSW 'Red' scored two bronze medals in the Singles and Triples. Sam was one of four NSW school players named in the Australian Merit side.
