The Lions first half was as good a half of football played this year, with Dane Hallinan and brother Tim running amok.
Dennis Pedemont booted three goals to provide another avenue to attack with Grintell also slotting three goals before the midfield supply dried up after the long break.
Outgoing Lions coach Josh Hillary was bitterly disappointed with the fade out and conceded he was at a loss to why the fortunes changed so dramatically.
I don't know what the turning point was. I can't get my head around it at this point. To kick just four points in the second half was a very disappointing way to finish.

"I don't know what the turning point was," Hillary said.
"I cant get my head around it at this point. To kick just four points in the second half was a very disappointing way to finish."
Osborne coach Matt Rava praised Livingstone for his second half effort when moved onto the ball.
"We needed someone to take control in the middle and Sam really put his hand up and played a terrific game," Rava said.
"We know we have the fitness in us and hopefully we can finish like that next week," he said.
Culcairn star midfielder didn't finish the game, succumbing to several injuries that he picked up late in the season.
Azzi Medal
Meanwhile, Brock Burrum ruckman Matt Seiter was a comfortable winner of the Azzi Medal count last week, polling a whopping 36 votes.
The former Wodonga Morris medalist winner in the Ovens and Murray FL polled an amazing ten best on ground vote cards to finish ahead of Culcairn's Jye Shields.
All up Seiter polled in fourteen games out of the eighteen rounds with twenty of his votes coming in the last eight rounds.
For Shields the runner-up finish was the third time in a row after he finished behind Steve Jolliffe in 2018 and Osborne's Jamie Parr in 2017.
Veteran Lockhart ruckman Neil Irwin finished third on twenty four votes, with Brock Burrum's Nico Sedgwick next on twenty votes.
Seiter became the fourth Saint to win the Azzi Medal in the last decade.
He joins Luke Schilg (2015), Sedgwick (2014) and Trent Storey (2010).
Lockhart wingman Abe Wooden was announced as the 2019 season's Hume Football League's Rising Star award winner on night after a stellar season with the Demons.
Osborne produced one of the Hume Football League's best second half comebacks to crush Culcairn's grand final hopes at Walbundrie.
The perennial powerhouse of country football looked for a certain exit after they trailed Culcairn by 36 points at half-time.
Culcairn looked home when Max Grintell booted a goal just before half-time to cap off a brilliant seven-goal term that had Osborne on its knees.
But some positional moves in the midfield and up forward inspired the Tigers to run out 18 point winners to set up another clash with the Brock Burrum Saints in the grand final at Walbundrie this Saturday.
Osborne added an amazing 8-10 to 0-4 in the second half, after Culcairn had kicked twelve first half goals to set up its big lead.
The move of Osborne coach Matt Rava up forward sparked a lot of the damage, with his organisational skills and ability to read the play pivotal.
A goal to Marty Bahr five minutes into the third term started the comeback, with follow up goals to Declan Galvin, George Alexander and Rava igniting the Tigers.
Sam Rutland levelled the scores eleven minutes into the final term before a behind to Rava put the Tigers in front for the first time in the game minutes later.
Goals to Sam Livingstone, Connor Galvin and Sam Stenning put the game beyond doubt as the Lions were run off their feet after a third straight final.
Galvin continued his wonderful season that has netted him 56 goals and nine so far in the finals series after four the previous week.
Veteran Osborne Tiger Hayden Gleeson was again assigned the job of curtailing Culcairn goal kicking centurion Adam Prior and kept him to just two majors for the match.
