The honour was for his achievements in bowls and golf, his contribution to both sports and the club in general. Wife Lynne was made a life member last year.
Sam Harrison, son of Kerrie and Glen Harrison, has been chosen to represent NSW in lawn bowls at the interstate championships at Tweed Heads.
Only 15 players are selected out of a squad of 80, with most players chosen from Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong.
This may be a first for Henty. Sam has been in the Riverina side now for four years. Both Kerrie and Glen are off for the week to support Sam and we wish him every success.
Henty's Lifestyle Centre has had installed, courtesy of Greater Hume Council, a disabled parking spot on Allen Street. Work started last week and should be completed soon. This provides a stable access point to the centre.
Visitors dropping into Henty on their way from Sydney to Melbourne were Sophia Burns (nee Costa) and her son.
Sophia's father was a fettler in Henty and her mother ran the Coffee Palace, which was located opposite the Memorial Hall.
It was in those days when the Coffee Palace was a regular destination during intermission when the pictures were shown in the Hall.
The family of seven children were involved in a number of sports and attended Henty Public School. Past school friends Colin Eulenstein and Richard Fifield had photos taken with the visitors.
The family of nine lived in a two-bedroom house where Les and Mary Dale built and raised their family, in Lyne Street.
