The Tim Fischer AC Gallery will open in the Billabong Wing and join the Doris Golder Wool Art Gallery and the Brookong Station Collection at the Greens Gunyah Museum in Lockhart.
Mr Fischer, who is currently receiving treatment for an illness, will attend the ceremony on May 2 with his wife and family.
The gallery will feature items and documents from his 50-year political career and the only tractor he even owned, which was driven by museum volunteers from Boree Creek.
Members of the Lockhart and District Historical Society, which is responsible for running the museum, and Lockhart Shire Council will attend the public opening from 11am on May 2 at the council chambers, followed by sausage sizzle.
Organisers are hopeful Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, will attend.
