The day, instigated by Holbrook Rotary Club and Greater Hume Council coincided with Clean Up Australia Day. Holbrook Rotary, community services director Murray Jones said the event was supported with the involvement of footy clubs including Jindera, Rand Walbundrie Walla Walla and Henty.
"The day started in Jindera with coordinator with a briefing for the Jindera footballers at 7.15 am," Mr Jones said.
Club president Simon Cossor had more than 20 players on board. They swept through town and collected from 58 residences. Rotary president Kerry Morton and Jenny Kane started at the Giant's Football Club at 8am. Under the guidance of Noel Garlick, president, a mix of players, supporters and Kotzur Silo's they had the extra pressure of carting 57 houses worth of waste all the way to the Culcairn Land Fill.
Henty's day started at 8.15am and opened with Rotarians Gordon Mann and Craig Rowe handing out town maps and house addresses. With 111 registered residences, and the transfer station closing at 3pm it was a big job.
The day exceeded everyone's expectations.
