With 34,058 votes counted, Ms Dalton has 13,636 votes, or 40.04 per cent of the primary vote.

The Nationals' Austin Evans has 12,159 or 35.70 per cent.

Wagga's independent MP Joe McGirr has strengthened his hold on the seat as counting resumes after Saturday's state election.

With 40,155 votes counted, Dr McGirr had 18,207, or 45.34 per cent of the primary vote.

The Nationals' Mackenna Powell has 10,621, which gives her 26.45 per cent.

Dr McGirr, who was elected at at byelection just six months ago, took 5557 of those early votes.

In a two-candidate comparison between Dr McGirr and Ms Powell, Dr McGirr is at a commanding 65.22 per cent.

With 32,999 votes counted, The Nationals MP, who was facing her first full election after coming in at a byelection on October 2017, has 20,816, which gives her 63.08 per cent of the primary vote.

Labor's Mark Douglass and the Shooerts, Fishers, Farmers' Matthew Stadtmiller have each received slightly more than 5000 votes.
