The Hume side completely outplayed its opponent at Martin Park in Wodonga winning the T20 Challenge by eight wickets and five overs to spare.
Made up of the old Holbrook and Brocklesby cricket associations the newly-merged entity, despite missing several players, were simply too good.
The recent success of the Holbrook DCA in O’Farrell Cup cricket and the enthusiasm of the former Brocklesby DCA clubs paints a bright representative future.
Player of the Match Tommy Simmons (Walla) led the way with an undefeated knock of (50) after opening the batting.
Hume after winning the toss sent District in and found immediate success with Mark Kreutzberger removing captain Chris Hartshorn in the second over.
District never recovered and found itself in diabolical trouble after ten overs being 6-33 against superb bowling and brilliant fielding.
Rohan Pearce (24), Jake Styles (19) and Darren Keenes (11 no) added respectability in the lower order as District were bowled out for 101.
All of the Hume bowlers did well with spinners Will Heriot 3-16 and Kreutzberger 2-17 leading the way on a wicket that offered turn.
Nathan Morton and Alex McMaster both grabbed two wickets while keeper Chris Hutchison took three excellent catches in an impressive display.
Any chance District had of a win disappeared when Simmons was dropped off his first ball.
After that he batted brilliantly in his 40-ball innings that included seven boundaries.
Kreutzberger and skipper Andrew Mackinlay both made (13) in handy partnerships with Simmons, while the ever-consistent Todd Hannam finished (23 no) off 19 balls.
CAW officials are confident that the match and possibly more will become a permanent part of the future representative scene.
CAW Hume players and selectors are already planning ahead to next season with an assault on the prestigious O’Farrell Cup at the forefront.
The match was part of a T20 spectacular with two other matches being played in front of a healthy crowd of 700 people.
Both CAW Provincial A and B grade competitions played their T20 grand finals with Lavington and St Patrick’s respectively winning.
