One of the young people employed in their home community is Sophie Bedggood.
Sophie has grown up in Henty, starting her education at Henty Public School and then continuing on to Billabong High School, where Sophie is just starting Year 11.
She is also an avid member of the Henty Football and Netball club and now Sophie is one of the friendly faces that we all see regularly at the Henty IGA.
She began working there in April 2017.
Sophie has formed a life balance that allows her to continue doing very well at school and manage a job and a social life. Like a lot of young people in our area, Sophie works very hard, proven by her willingness to work the Sunday shift or jump off of her school bus, change out of one uniform to the other and start her shift then.
“My favourite part of working at the IGA is that I get to communicate with customers of all ages”, Sophie said.
“My future aspirations are to stay and work within the Henty community.
“I started working at the IGA because I wanted a job in my local community.”
We cannot wait to see what lies in store for this community-minded local leader.
