THE effort that the volunteers had undertaken to keep the Henty Creative Gallery open over the Christmas and New Year period is to be commended. It is interesting to see Henty’s business sector has changed significantly over the past five years. As some business have closed, others of an alternate nature are coming to the fore.

THE Henty Show is putting considerable effort into making this year one of the biggest show for some years. Additional rides will be attending and a demonstration of the larger rural drones. Last year’s animal show returns with that great gentle bull and trained horses for three separate presentations. The inaugural dog high jump is looking for as many entrants to participate. Dogs can be working dogs or family pets. Three classes, dependent on the size of the dog, will keep things interesting. The pavilion entries are expected to be diverse and the Show and Shine will have the best and most loved vehicles vying for prestige.

FOUR members of the Henty and District Historical Society have spent the past three years undertaking the massive task of researching the Henty soldiers of WWI and have turned up some surprises. The volunteers that went overseas turned their hands at almost every conceivable task set before them. Being Australians, there was a fair amount of fun and devilry, mostly to keep themselves amused or distracted, though some in charge obviously had no sense of humour. The society is still after photos of those that served - contact John or Connie Ross. Proof reading is being undertaken, some editing will have to be done as the book is sitting at 2000 pages, though the book may end up being around that size.
