It is interesting to note that following the opening of the Henty Fire Station and Main Street, Greg Aplin, MP for Albury, spoke at length in NSW Parliament on the improvements to the infrastructure of Henty. Mr Aplin represented the Minister for Emergency Services when opening the new $1 million Henty Fire Station. Mr Aplin described the many aspects of the new facilities in the changing rural environment of Henty. He did not stop there; he spoke about the Henty & District Lifestyle Centre, and its conversion to a multipurpose facility and gymnasium.

The Henty Bowling Club, where he mentioned attending the opening of the new works – an all-weather shelter for bowlers and the opportunities for its use for other activities for the community with the funding of $20,000 from NSW Community Building partnerships.
Next came the opening of the Henty streetscape project – an investment of over $1 million dollars. Mr Aplin described in detail the heritage “look” of our Main Street, its lighting, underground power and drainage system; the new verandas, the street furniture, signage, garden beds and street trees.
He also drew attention to the proposal of the Greater Hume Shire Council and their efforts to address and to take advantage of a strong economic opportunity to improve and redesign the northern rail crossing.
In addition, Grain Corp are looking to invest $4.3 million into rail infrastructure at the Henty facility. Mr Aplin is working hard with all parties involved to bring the crossing project at Henty to fruition. An application has been submitted for a grant to supplement funds already committed and it would be a nice Christmas present for the community if a positive outcome resulted.
