The Men’s Shed at Holbrook will receive $4500 and the Culcairn will get $2200. Farrer MP Sussan Ley said the organisations were successful under round 17 of the National Shed Development Programme. “Men are often the last to make their health and wellbeing a priority, and that’s actually why men’s sheds had their origins here on the border in the late 1970’s.”
She said the funding was vital in keeping the facilities open and up to date. Upgrades at Culcairn include tools and equipment and at Holbrook there will be a container delivery and site preparation.
Heath Minister Greg Hunt said feeling part of a social group is important to our emotional and mental health. “Every day Men’s Sheds across Australia provide men with an opportunity for companionship and support within their community,” he said.
