Hume FL Hall of Fame chairman Brendan I’Anson has announced that there will be six inductees, with for the first time, netball service being recognized.
Both Jill Kohlhagen (Walla) and Noreen Norman (Daysdale) will be inducted for their remarkable service to the sport at their club’s and league’s.
Noreen will become the first wife and husband combination to be inducted into the hall of Fame, with Lindsay Norman being inducted in 2015.
“Netball plays such an important part of a day’s sport in the local leagues and it is in particular the Hume a strong family connection with the football”
“It is wonderful that the league can recognize people like Jill and Noreen who have been amazing contributors to netball” I’Anson said.
In a first the league will induct two brothers Kelly and George Azzi (both deceased) together in recognition of their joint work after WW2 in reforming the league.
The other two inductees will be Lockhart stalwart John Trevaskis and one of the leagues greatest ever players Terry O’Halloran from Howlong.
O’Halloran is one of only two players to have won the league best and fairest award and three occasions. Noel Coutts (Holbrook) is the other.
The evening starts at 6.30 with all clubs being issued at minimum a table of ten. People looking for tickets can contact the Hume league or Brendan IAnson.
HUME SET FOR THRILLING FINISH
A thrilling finish to the final third of the Hume FL season is set when the competition resumes this week after last Saturday general bye.
The top four teams currently on the ladder look certain finalist with Henty, Brock Burrum, Osborne and Jindera all well placed.
The battle for the final two places is set to go right down to the wire with five teams chasing down fifth and sixth position.
In such an even competition, there are very few games that any of these teams could pencil in for a certain win.
On paper Holbrook looks to have the easier draw, not playing any teams inside the top six, with this week’s home game against Giants its highest ranked opponent.
Both Culcairn and Rand Walbundrie Walla have very tough matches ahead, while Howlong and CDHBU the other contenders have reasonable fixtures ahead.
Henty with just the one loss this season appear almost certain to finish as minor premiers and go into the finals a firm favorite.
Brock Burrum have a good run home with this week’s clash at Brocklesby against Culcairn being their only match against a top six side.
Culcairn has a huge month ahead with the next four matches pitting the Lions against the top four teams before finishing with the Giants and Magpies.
The Giants have a massive task ahead of them to play finals with all six of its remaining matches against the current top six teams on the ladder.
Both CDHBU and Howlong would have to win at least four of its remaining matches to have any chance of playing finals.
