Lyn gave her report from State Conference, which was held last week in Armidale. There were some very good guest speakers on various topics, which are always interesting. Lyme Disease has been our Medical Project for the past three years, and a cheque was given to Jenny Williams, a volunteer from that Association for $37,250, being the money raised in the past year. They are using the money for more research into the little known disease.
Endometriosis is the Medical Project for next year.
Susan Creek’s Machine Embroidery was part of Riverina Group’s Exhibit, in which we were fourth overall. Lyn won a first prize in the Cooking with her Moist Coconut Cake. The general debating on the motions was interesting, and we have more work to do on our Motion. Lyn also read out some interesting facts about Pomegranates, which are our Primary Product for this year.
Next year, the Conference will be held in Albury from May 6 to 10, so an opportunity exists for all CWA members living in this area to come as observers if they aren’t delegates, at least for part of the conference.
Lyn is part of the Albury organising committee.
The Branch is planning on putting on an item at the Group Cultural Day in Wagga on May 28.
We have a Bunnings barbecue coming up on Sunday, June 10. This is a great fundraiser for us, and anyone who would be able to help us by doing a turn on the roster would be most appreciated. Please contact Lyn on 6043 3301 or Susan on 6929 6467 if you are able to help us out for a couple of hours on the day.
Our Land Cookery competition was a sultana cake, and Eunice won this with an absolutely beautiful cake. Lyn J was second, and Margaret H third.
Next month, we will have the chocolate sponge and gluten free lamington fingers. Recipes in June 2017 Journal must be used for both.
- Our next meeting will be held at the Henty Library at 11am on Wednesday, June 13.
