Eleanor then congratulated members Shirley McLeish and Ron Wellington on their forthcoming marriage and wished them well in their future together.
The morning's five minute speaker was Ron Wellington who told us about life in Kenya where he has visited his daughter a number of times. Ron also showed us some wonderful pictures of Africa's wildlife and landscape.
Jane Evans, the day's guest speaker, explained the workings of the Albury/Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund and assured the gathering that 100 per cent of donations are used locally.
These funds are spread over five categories: clinical trials, staff development, special gloves for patients and a wellness centre accessible to those who are undergoing treatment at the Albury/Wodonga Cancer Centre. The fifth area to which the money is channelled is the childrens' trauma section at Albury Base Hospital, where children with cancer are treated.
The next meeting is the annual meeting at Culcairn Bowling and Rec Club on March 14 at 10am.
