This is her life-long home.
The eastern Riverina town has been good to her and she has been good to it.
In fact, her contribution to the community will be officially honoured later this year when Mrs Lehmann heads to Sydney to receive her Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
Initially when Mrs Lehmann was nominated for the OAM she wanted to keep it under wraps. The acknowledgement and attention wasn’t something she was seeking.
However, she was talked around by her family who believed it would be a great opportunity to showcase Lockhart and the region.
Mrs Lehmann said there were some excellent individuals in Lockhart who had achieved a lot.
She said the community engagement was excellent. And as a result five individuals in the township had been honoured with an OAM over the years.
Mrs Lehmann was one of the people who gathered at Osborne on Friday to celebrate Australia Day and she said it was an enjoyable experience catching up with friends from Lockhart.
“This is just something that is good for the region,” she said.
