We held a very successful Bunnings barbecue, and thanks was extended to the members and Peter Creek who helped to man this. As we are a very small band of ladies, it would be lovely to get some new members, so please ladies do think seriously about this as all the volunteer organisations are desperately in need of some new blood.
A report was given on the recent Group Council meeting, which was held in Wagga.
Money raised for the two Group Projects was presented to their representatives - Ronald Macdonald House in Wagga to buy four new tables, and the Wagga Referral Hospital to buy a table with drawers and a book case, plus some chairs for the new Prayer Room. These donations were greatly appreciated by the organisations.
We have been invited to send some members to a morning tea being held at the Hilltop Carer’s accommodation as a thank you for supplying them with homemade cakes and slices for the first six months of each year, and members are reminded that it is our turn again from January to supply goodies.
We were given the first prize certificate to give to the Pleasant Hills Primary School students for their International Power Point Presentation on Nepal.
Their presentation has gone on to be judged at State level. We also will be giving the outgoing Year 6 students a pen each as a reminder of their Primary School days.
We have three members hoping to attend the State International Seminar on Poland in Canberra in February. State Conference is to be held in Armidale in May, Lyn will be going as we have a resolution to talk about and as we can have two delegates.
Mrs Adams judged the cooking, and the results were – Boiled Fruit Cake, 1st Eunice McRae, 2nd Margaret Hasler, and Steamed Fruit Pudding, 1st Lyn Jacobsen.
We had a very special Christmas Santa raffle, which was won by Bev Frohling, with Susan Creek winning the second prize.
Mrs Phegan made a special presentation at the end of the meeting to a very surprised Eunice McRae and Lyn Jacobsen of “50 years of service to CWA” medallions.
Sincere thanks from the branch must go to Bev Frohling for all her wonderful organisation to make this such a special occasion with all her added niceties.
Members all brought goodies to make a hamper for needy people, and this was later given to the Salvation Army for distribution.
