The final year veterinary science student at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga hopes to commence a career within the rural sector which will help producers achieve their goals and focus on outcomes within the livestock industry. 

To sure up her expertise and put the education learned at university into practice she recently completed an internship with the Graham Centre in Wagga. 

The internship allowed her to learn a lot of different skills including the specifics about data analysis and collection. 

“I have also gotten to see the range of wide and varied projects that are going on at the Graham Centre,” she said. 

“As part of my student internship I was involved with field activities like collecting blood samples from ewes, and weighing ewes and lambs," Ms Howard said.

“I also spent some time in the university's parasitology laboratory to gain an understanding of the development of new parasite diagnostic tools for commercial use.” “This internship has encouraged me to focus on livestock systems throughout the remainder of my degree and I'm looking forward to seeing where it will lead beyond graduation.” 

Her plans are to work within the livestock industry and expand expertise within the sheep and wool area.  She grew up on a family property called “Robin Hood,” at Milbrulong which runs livestock and grows winter crops.
