With Osborne, almost certain to be minor premiers and remain undefeated, it still has a few contenders nipping at their heels.
Jindera, despite a loss last round, should be able to hold onto second place and the subsequent double chance and second semi final berth.
Both Henty and Brock Burrum are the only other teams who could force their way into the top two, but the Bulldogs good percentage should see them secure second.
Culcairn, currently in fifth place, look likely to hold onto this position and make a return to finals for first time since 2012 elimination final.
Murray Magpies are the sixth placed team but their recent inconsistent form has put finals chances under huge pressure.
The Magpies, with a large injury toll, are walking a finals’ tightrope with Holbrook, Howlong and RWW Giants ready to pounce.
Holbrook, after losing its first five matches, has won five of its last seven to remain a very definite chance to make an unlikely finals appearance.
Four of its last six matches are at home with its next two matches against Giants (home) and Culcairn (away) likely to shape its finals ambitions.
Howlong, after starting the season with five straight wins, has encountered a nightmare couple of months to lose seven in a row and a weakened percentage.
RWW Giants are still an outside chance to make the top six but would have to win at least five of its last six.
With a reasonable run home they are still a remote chance.
Lockhart who can’t make finals are very likely to shape it with its recent form providing three wins from its last four matches.
CDHBU who have had some highs including a last kick victory over Culcairn, remain in second last position on three wins and will be keen to get a few more scalps in the run home.
The Billabong Crows are still winless but will be looking at matches against Howlong, Giants and Holbrook to break the drought.
HUME HALL OF FAME NEARING
THE third annual Hume Football League Hall of Fame will again be held this year with Wednesday evening July 26 the date at Commercial Club in Albury.
Following on from the huge success of the first two events, this year’s inductees are again full of merit and incredible history.
Once again there will be five inductees with the names being some of the most influential in local football across the region.
This year’s inductees include Don Star from Jindera who at the peak of his career played 20 matches at VFL level with South Melbourne.
Legendary coach Ted Miller will be inducted after an extensive playing and coaching career and the founder of the Murray Magpies.
David Coulston played at many clubs in Southern NSW and North East Victoria, but was a Hume league institution at Walla, Rand and Rand Walbundrie.
Bill Thomas who passed away in 1999 was a legend on and off the field at Walbundrie and a premiership player and league representative in the O&M Football League.
Henty farmer, former president and 400-game-plus player, Graham Scholz, will be also inducted after decades of service to his Swampies.
Chairman of the Hume Football League Hall of Fame Brendan I‘Anson says the event and interest from clubs continues to grow.
“With the league having so much history and so many clubs playing since it was formed in 1933 the demand is still very high,” I’Anson said.
“It is important to remember that clubs don’t have to be a foundation member of the Hume Football League to have players and volunteers nominated.
“Any club that has played in the league carry their history into our league from previous leagues and associations.”
