The five-minute speaker was Connie Ross who gave an interesting and informative talk on growing up in Tarcutta, her schooling and studying teaching at the Wagga Teachers College.
Family, farming, gardening, travelling, reading and writing short stories and poems are all very close to her heart.
One of the highlights and biggest event of her extensive travels was taking part and completing the Kokoda Trail.
On retiring from the farm, she and John retired to Henty in 2005.
Guest speaker was Paddianne Archdale, CEO of Kalianna.
Paddianne informed all present about the availability and what services were available through Kalianna.
Transport is funded to provide personalised door-to-door transport for residents living within the Albury, Corowa and Greater Hume Local Government Areas.
Kalianna offers a transport solution that is safe and easy to access for people who are unable to use public transport or commute themselves, whether its attending a medical appointment, going shopping or enjoying a social outing with friends and family
There are a variety of vehicles including small buses that are wheelchair accessible and cars.
Kalianna’s drivers are easily identifiable in hi-vis pink vests.
Kalianna was established in 1966 under the name of “Kalianna Training Centre and Workshop” and in 1993 the organisation incorporated and became, what is now known as Kalianna Enterprises.
There is a shortage of volunteer drivers and anyone wishing to help with this very worthwhile service can contact Paddianne on 6021 4832 or 0488 011 627 , or email ceo@kalianna.com.au.
