CULCAIRN finished strongly in the final term to defeat Holbrook by 34 points in the Hume Football League Round 3 encounter at Holbrook Sporting Complex.

With only six points the difference in Culcairn’s favour going into the last quarter, the visitors booted three late goals to secure the hard-fought victory.
The Brookers paid the price for turn many turnovers, particularly in midfield, and an inaccurate third term that netted them one goal from seven scoring shots.
Culcairn, who trailed at both quarter time and halftime, got on top with recruits Peter Cook and John Robbins both kicking four goals.
Tim Haines was superb across halfback for Culcairn, along with Jed Andrew, Dane Hallinan and coaches Brendan Way and Adam Eady.
The much improved Lions are in fifth place on the ladder and will certainly be one of many teams pressing for the top six.
Holbrook had good players in Aaron Baker, Curtis Steele, and Andrew Mackinlay, but will need to find better ball security if they are to notch some wins.

HENTY got on the winners’ list for 2017 with a very hard fought 16-point win over the Rand Walbundrie Walla Giants at Henty.
The Giants turned on a superb first half to take a 21-point lead into halftime with Nick Turner on fire up forward with five goals.
A good old fashioned halftime rev up and some subtle changes did the job for the Swampies with a rejuvenated Swampies dominating the third term to lead by two points.
Another solid three goals to nothing final term completed the second half turn around that netted 8-3 to the inaccurate Giants 1-8.
Rhett Thomson, Josh Gaynor, and Shannon Terlich starred for the Swampies, while Sam MCcallum and debutant Johnathon Male impressed.
Brian Lieschke was best for the Giants with great support from Tom Simmons, Justin Gordon and Brendan Simmons.

OSBORNE remain unbeaten and in fourth place on the ladder following its impressive 30-point win over Murray Magpies at Urana Road Oval in Lavington.
The game was one of the best this season thus far with Osborne only taking the game away in the final 10 minutes with five late goals.
Scores were level at quarter time, three points to Osborne at halftime and Magpies courtesy of a 60-metre goal after the siren by Josh Maher one point up at the last change.
Marty Bahr capped off a brilliant game for Osborne with three last quarter goals.
Clancy Galvin, four goals, and Connor, two goals, were also outstanding.

JINDERA continued on its merry way by thrashing Lockhart at Lockhart by 100 points with Ryan Speed best on ground for the visitors.
The home team after being competitive in the first quarter, struggled after that with just one goal kicked by them in the last three quarters.
Jindera after a narrow two-point win over Henty to start the season, has since then built percentage with massive wins in the last two rounds.
The Bulldogs had 13 different goal kickers with Hayden Hamilton, Jess Wellington and Tom Weldon pushing Speed for best on ground honours.

HOWLONG also remain unbeaten after they held off a tigerish performance from Billabong Crows at Oaklands.
The Crows looked a big chance of an upset when they took a two goal lead into halftime, before the Spiders gained control in the second half.
Tim Brook continued his great form with a best afield effort for Howlong.
He got good support from Brad Palipuaminni and Matt McDonald.
Michael O’Riordan with three goals and Sam Grant as well were wonderful contributors for the Crows, while Zach and Riley Kerr were solid.

BROCK Burrum made it three in a row for the defending premiers and become the fourth team on the Hume ladder with a 3-0 record.
They had to work hard to overcome a tenacious effort from CDHBU who led early in the third term after a Jeremy Stevenson goal.
From that point on wards the Saints clicked into gear with six straight goals and nine of the last eleven in the match.
Hayden Hibberson impressed in his first senior game of the season, while 16-year-old Eddie Ziebarth again impressed in his first season of senior football.
The combine fielded its strongest team for the year with Brad Talbot, Mick Collins, Tim Cooper and Stevenson all among their best.
