HENTY Buffalo Lodge members agreed to assist Emily Jones, Henty Lions Youth of the Year, in attending the Lion’s Regional Challenge at Lavington. The amount of $50 will assist with travel costs. Although not successful this year, there is an opportunity at next year’s challenge for Emily to proceed onto Sydney to compete.

HENTY Red Cross members are knocking on doors throughout March collecting funds for their various causes. To date, the collectors are having encouraging responses from generous Henty residents.

THE annual meeting of the Henty branch of the National Party was held last week. Colin Wood was re-elected as chairman and David Muller as secretary. Guest speaker was Richard Hargrave Colless, MLC. Mr Hargrave spoke on many of the positive happenings in the rural areas. Motions passed to be sent to the State Conference at Broken Hill included mental health; palliative care; national housing strategy and for the regulations for registration of vehicles including trucks, and driver licenses to be on a national basis.

HENTY & District Historic Society members are being kept busy with increasing requests for information on family histories. Tours of Henty and surrounds, having associations with a particular family, are being conducted.

HENTY Public cornered the “market” on bikes last week with an impressive number of students riding bikes or scooters around the streets. The parade was a big success and stopped onlookers in their tracks.
