Temora will retain the prestigious O’Farrell Cup over the winter after they pulled off a miraculous escape against Holbrook.
Temora only managed 121 on a rain-affected wicket and Holbrook were cruising towards victory at 4-94 before Tassell turned the game on its head.
Tassel’s hat-trick put Holbrook on the back foot and suddenly the visitors crashed to 9-114, with just eight runs needed for victory.
With only six to get, a Tom Winkley misfield brought about Holbook’s undoing, as it caused a mix-up when coming back for a second run.
Winkley fired the ball to Mark Stimson, who whipped the bails off to provide Temora with a famous victory.
Temora captain Luke Gerhard said it was a historic moment for the town.
“We haven’t won this many games and held it over the off-season since the 50s,” Gerhard said.
“It just goes to show how committed we all were and to top it off with a win like that is just unreal.
“I thought we were gone.”
Tassell finished with 4-33 as Holbrook were dismissed for 116. Andrew Mackinlay almost single-handily got Holbrook home with a fine innings of 76.
Peter Stimson top scored for Temora with an unbeaten 37, closely followed by Kurt Robertson on 29.
