Flooding across the region didn’t impact the numbers at this year’s Spirit of the Land Festival in Lockhart.
Organisers were worried that road closures and water over roads would impact the number.
“Given the flood conditions and cancellation of the picnic races we were apprehensive about the success of this year’s event,” event president Mandy Strong
Official visitor numbers are still being tallied but the committee and stall holders were impressed by crowds on Saturday. However, weather conditions saw lower numbers on Sunday.
Artists numbers were up on the last festival, with numbers of sculptures and paintings double that of last year.
Earlier this year there were fears around the festival ending due to a lack of new members joining the committee.
This fear has been squashed with new people putting their hands up meaning the event will continue to go ahead.
