The Yerong Creek mixed farmer admitted being lost for words when he was honoured for his 50-year involvement in the iconic southern Riverina event.
“This is bit of a surprise for me, I’m a bit stuck for words,” a humble Mr Edwards said.
Mr Edwards first volunteered at Henty as a parking attendant in 1966 and became chairman in 2007.
He farms 1538 hectares and runs the Pindari Bond stud.with his wife Heather, son Phillip and daughter-in-law Nicole.
“It’s absolutely wonderful to be at the head of a organisation like this and once again thank you to the fellow board members for acknowledging my 50 years,” he said.
“I hope that I can do another 20 years but we’ll see what happens.”
