Bringing an ag show together takes months of organising and thousands of dollars in upfront costs.
No one knows this better than Joy Schultz who has been secretary of The Rock Show for the last 28 years.
“The ambulance alone is $880,” she said.
“It costs thousands to put on a show.”
The Rock show has been running for the last 70 years and Ms Schultz hopes this year will go ahead as planned.
The show is searching for the major sponsor for this year.
Lockhart Shire Council was approached but instead donated $500. The council also donated $500 to the Lockhart Show in the interest of supporting both local shows.
This year’s show will celebrate 70 years of operation and a recipe book will be put together for the milestone.
For the 50th show the committee put together a slice recipe book and this year will focus on old fashioned desserts and sweets.
The Rock show will be held on Saturday October 15 and Lockhart show will be held on Sunday September 25.
To submit a recipe or for more information about being a sponsor contact Ms Schultz on 0428 566 902.
