The population of the small town increased six fold with the annual Dogs NSW Southern Region show.
More than 1200 dogs and 1000 owners were at the Yerong Creek recreation grounds from June 24 to 26.
“We had more than 100 different breeds from chihuahuas to Irish wolfhounds,” show secretary Beverley Daines said.
“Lots of the breeds are quite rare and some are breeds most people have as pets.”
The biggest classes of dogs were the whippet and golden retriever.
However, it wasn’t just the dog show which benefited from the weekend the economy in Yerong Creek got a boost.
More than 40 people camped at the Recreation Grounds, meals were eaten in the bowling club and the tennis club catered for breakfast and lunch.
“It certainly filled their coffers,” Ms Daines said.
The Wagga Kennel Club will host their show at Yerong Creek at the end of July.
