From July 1, one of the biggest changes to local television since the introduction of colour will begin.
Win Television and Southern Cross will switch allegiances.
Currently, Win rebroadcasts Channel 9 while Southern Cross is the home of Channel 10.
It will mean The Project could follow Win News instead of the NRL.
The switch between Channel 9 and Channel 10 will also affect Go!, Gem, One and 11.
Importantly for regional viewers, Win Television will be maintaining their news service, including four journalists and three camera operators.
“It will still be Win News; viewers will turn on Win at 6pm and will see something they’re used to,” Wagga’s Win Television station manager Nathon Irvin said.
There will be big changes to the content around the news however and Mr Irvin said the station’s offering would be boosted by Ten’s Eyewitness News and The Project.
He said programs changing channels was not unusual, with the X-Factor and Big Brother shows moving in the past.
“People don’t really follow a particular channel, they will follow their favourite programs,” Mr Irvin said.
“From a viewer’s perspective, you will still be able to see and have access to everything you’ve always had, it’s just on a different channel.”
Mr Irvin said viewers would not need to adjust their televisions with the change taking place at the broadcast point.

- Southern Cross gains Millionaire Hot Seat, the Footy Shows, A Current Affair, National Rugby League, cricket test matches, The Voice, 60 Minutes, the Today Show, Bold and the Beautiful
