Machines contain farm fire
A FIFTEEN-hectare fire burning on a private property near Lockhart was contained using farm machines before fire crews responded.
Rural Fire Service Riverina district officer, Steve Quinlan, said six tankers were called to Lieschkes Lane, Bidgeemia about noon, after private units had contained the grass fire.
It was suspected machinery started the fire, under the hot and dry conditions.
“It was very slow-moving and no real threat (to people, buildings or stock),” Mr Quinlan said.
