Kennedy and Perryman were popular visitors at Collingullie-Glenfield Park’s junior training, as they returned to their home club while on their mid-season break.
The Collingullie duo gave up their own time to train with the Demons juniors, much to the delight of the youngsters.
“It’s awesome to get back home, see all the friends and family and a good chance to recharge the batteries for the second half of the year,” Kennedy said.
“It’s a good experience, just to come back and see where it all started. I still remember running around here training when I was a junior, 15 or 16.
“It’s kind of weird to think how quickly it’s all happened. To get back here and see a lot of kids here tonight, it’s great, to see the junior club growing, which is really good to see.”
Kennedy and Perryman combined for two senior premierships at Collingullie. Both are currently in the Giants’ senior team, which sits second on the ladder, and have the opportunity to achieve something special together at AFL level.
“Bloody oath, that’s what you’re here to do, play in premierships and win them and we’ve got the opportunity to do that,” Kennedy said.
“Obviously it doesn’t come around too easily, we’ve still got a long way to go but that is the goal at the end of the day and we’ll just take it week by week at the moment and hopefully try to get into finals and once we get there, we can really focus on playing some really good, consistent footy and see how far we can go.”
Perryman has impressed the Giants in his first season and last week signed a two-year contract extension. He still enjoyed the chance to get home to the farm.
“I absolutely love coming home, it’s only three or four days but you love every minute of it,” Perryman said.
“Get back to the farm, helping dad out the last couple of days, I’m loving it.”
