“It’s not a million dollars but it will make a significant difference,” said Federal Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business Michael McCormack when he announced funding of $2000 for The Rock Men’s Shed this week.

The $2000 grant will contribute towards the cost of basic power and hand tools, including drills and spanners and a dust extraction system, and is “a welcome boost,” according to Shed President, Bob Blake.
“The Rock Men’s Shed, indeed all Men’s Sheds provide local men with the opportunity to connect with each other and avoid social isolation, in a safe, friendly environment, where men can work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time, in the company of other men,” Mr McCormack said.
“Men’s Sheds are a popular way for men to connect with their community — whether it’s through a building project, gathering together to talk about issues, to catch up on a regular basis and work on different things — that’s why I encourage our local blokes to get involved with their local shed.
“I offer my congratulations to The Rock Men’s Shed president Bob Blake on his shed’s success in obtaining this grant and wish him and his members all the best as they make good use of this financial contribution from the Federal Government.”
Mr McCormack indicated the funding was part of $5.1 million the Federal Government has provided to the Australian Men’s Shed Association through to 2018-19 in support of the national network of Men’s Sheds.
