Harold and Clarice Janetzki’s grandnephew, Scott Reardon, son of Harold’s sister Edna, lost his right leg in a farm accident when he was 12.
Not one to dwell on his misfortune he later claimed world titles in water skiing. Not content with these accolades he switched to athletics. This year Scott represented Australia and his home town of Temora in the Rio Paralympics winning a gold medal in the T42 100m race.
Well done to the intrepid gentlemen who decided to mow the lawn in the rain on Saturday morning. It may have taken 4 times as long as it would have done later in the day, but then it was a finals day with the Bulldogs win being telecast.
If anyone is interested in a walk, for exercise or a change of scenery, many are enjoying the stock route beside Sweetwater Village and the Swamp. Even during these wet days there has been a small group of dedicated walkers making regular use of the track.
Henty Men’s Shed members have been working hard making boot racks this wet winter; not much thought was given to this handy item until this year.
Those worrying about the growth in Henty’s Government Dam reserve will be pleased to know that a mob of sheep are getting stuck into the long grass. It may take some time before the sheep are seen as the grass is currently winning. If anyone would like to participate in placing informative signs around the site, Ken Dale is keeping a register of those interested in this exercise. Volunteers will be contacted when conditions are more suitable.
