The school’s film club was able to purchase the camera after the P and C donated more than $5000.
School principal Jason Weaven said students will capture footage at school events, edit them and add sound.
“They (the movies) will promote the school and the kids will be able to show them at the assembly,” he said.
The film club is one of the school’s interest groups which is run outside of class time.
Students can also take part in a gardening and environment group which looks after chickens and plants at the school.
Donations from the P and C also allow the school to purchase books which students can take home to improve their skills.
“They (the P and C) are really important,” Mr Weaven said.
“They fund things that students wouldn’t otherwise have – they fund things so the kids aren’t disadvantaged.”
P and C president Prue Pincott said the Holbrook community and school parents are very supportive of the committee.
“It’s great to be able to give money back to the school,” she said.
“It helps take pressure off the school.”
Mrs Pincott said the P and C was about more than just fundraising.
“There is another side to the P and C, not just fundraising,” she said.
“If parents have complaints or suggestions for the school they can bring them to us and we can go to the school.”
The P and C will run a barbecue at the school on Friday after the assembly.
All parents are welcome to become a member of P and C. The committee meets twice a term at the school and the date is advertised in the school newsletter.
