Mr Mildren has been playing the bugle at the Anzac and Remembrance Day Ceremonies since 1968 but due to illness could not play this year.
The service was short and sweet with around 70 people watching on for the speech and wreath laying before the Last Post was played followed by a minutes silence and then the Reveille was played.
Col Schirmer, a life member of the Lockhart RSL Sub-branch, gave the speech with the president of the sub-branch absent.
“On this special day it is sobering to remember that over 60,000 Australians dies in World War One and 156,000 were wounded, gassed or taken prisoner,” he said during his speech.
Mr Schirmer and Sub-Branch secretary Luke Jones were pleased with the turnout and said it was about the same as other years.
“It was a good crowd, we just have a quick service with the one speech and wreath laying,” Mr Jones said.
Wreaths were laid by the RSL, Lockhart Shire Council, Lockhart Ex Servicemen’s Club, Ex POW Association, Red Cross, Lockhart Central School and St Joseph’s School before it was open to individuals.
The service was followed by a morning tea at the Ex Servicemen’s Club.
