Rev Craig Nicholas made the move from Sydney to Henty to take on the role.
Ministers from across the area came to Henty to conduct the official ceremony.
Becoming a minister took him six years. He studied full time for five years and worked as an assistant minister for two.
The Parish he worked at in Sydney had 220 people and ran three services each Sunday.
Henty and Lockhart combined have around 70.
Although he has only lived in Henty for a short time Rev Nicholas has already enjoyed the change.
“The church is really friendly and people are happy to stop and chat,” Rev Nicholas said.
His journey of becoming Henty’s new minister began in November last year with a long process to follow.
In February he knew he was successful in the position and packed up his life in Sydney with wife Amie and left shortly after.
