An elderly doctor is recovering from serious injuries after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck by a patient at a medical clinic.

Emergency services were called to a doctor's office on Pitt Street in Sydney's CBD at 7pm on September 26 after receiving reports of an assault.
Police will allege in court that the 85-year-old doctor was treating a patient when he was stabbed in the neck.
The victim was treated for serious injuries to the neck by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.
Patient arrested
Investigators arrested a 57-year-old man at the clinic, and he was taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
Police then transported the man to the hospital for assessment, where he remains under police guard.
He was charged with wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on September 27 and was refused bail.
He is expected to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on November 27.
A crime scene was established at the doctor's office, and the investigation is ongoing.
