For owners and publicans Lynn and Chris Langridge owning a country pub like the Walbundrie Hotel was a dream come true.
"I'm very sad, I absolutely love it," Mrs Langridge said of the pub. "We don't regret doing it, it's the best thing we ever did, we just wish we did it ten years ago."
Daysdale pub has also shut its doors for good.
Mr Langridge said it had gotten harder to run a country pub since the introduction of drink-driving laws and now more young people tended to move out of town.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Seven years ago the pair moved from Gippsland to Walbundrie but in the past two years Mr Langridge has survived two strokes, while Mrs Langridge has experienced thinning of the arteries and ulcers.
With their health in mind, the pair have decided they can't keep the pub going anymore and must close, but are still hopeful a co-op of locals will step in to purchase the pub.
The hotel, known as The Piney, has been on the market for two years.
Mrs Langridge said it was especially sad for them to close the business, knowing how important country pubs were.
"It's the place everyone comes together and congregates for a drink of a meal, we haven't got anywhere else," she said. "But it's very important for towns to continue to support their local pubs. We're really sorry to the ones who have stuck by us for seven years."
The pub is hosting one last big hooray on Sunday.
