However, it's a donation which has an interesting background story.
The idea to donate hay during the current drought period came from Sara Stevenson who lives near Lockhart in the eastern Riverina.
Sara, 14, has been selected as a national finalist in the Australia Galaxy Pageant.
It is a pageant that encourages young people to be involved in their local community, raise funds for charitable causes and to become the best possible versions of themselves.
The pageant runs from March 4 to 7 and will be held on the Gold Coast.
"It challenges participants in areas of personal development," Sara explained.
In addition to the fodder donation Sara has already raised more than $1000 for Make-A-Wish Australia.
In March she will be judged by an interview panel and will also participate in modelling events.
Sara, who is studying Year 9, at Yanco Agricultural High School, said the donation to the RDA in Wagga was a small way to support an amazing organisation.
She was encouraged by how the RDA fosters a connection between horses and riders.
It has been Australia's lost summer. Drought, hail, floods and, worst of all, bushfires have ravaged communities all over the nation. But the selfless actions of friends, family, neighbours, strangers, local groups and volunteer organisations have inspired us and strengthened the bonds of community.
