Grills was named winner of the Women in Sport Local Champion award at the Australian Sport Women's Health Awards in Sydney last Wednesday. The awards recognise some of Australia's most inspiring female athletes and sporting moments from the past 12 months.
Polocrosse365 is a three-day workshop for girls aged 12-16 which covers more than polocrosse coaching. The workshops are designed to enhance and enrich the lives of young girls to develop skills and become the happiest version of themselves.
Grills was one of five nominees for the award, based on the development of her own Girls Talk program and Polocrosse365. The other four nominees were Ashleigh Fong (rugby sevens), Emma Duggan (motor racing), Pamela McClelland (boxing) and Tamieka Garcia (boxing).
Polocrosse365 is a three-day workshop for girls aged 12-16 which covers more than polocrosse coaching. Topics over the three days include mental health, body image, social media, physical health, nutrition, confidence, along with specialised polocrosse coaching.
Grills, who was named best female player, was an integral part of the Australia's win at the Polocrosse World Cup earlier this year.
World no. 1 tennis player Ash Barty was named sportswoman of the year after he amazing rise up the rankings.
Australian women's cricket captain Meg Lanning was awarded the Legend Leadership award, while her side won the team of the year.
