Batting first, Osborne compiled 5/170 with the main contributions coming from GWS Giants midfielder Harry Perryman and Carlton's Matt Kennedy.

Perryman top scored with 66, while Kennedy made 39no.

Both lads play a couple of games with their brothers at Osborne prior to preseason. Next week, there is a strong chance Port Adelaide utility Dougal Howard will also pad up.

Holbrook's top scorer was Brayden Eddy (25), with Daniel McCarthy (23) making a return after two years at Jingellic.

Henty and Lockhart played out a high-scoring thriller at Paech Oval in Henty, with the home side winning with an over to spare. In a match that had more than 500 runs scored, it was a brilliant captain knock from Henty's Grant Gardiner that led the victory charge.

Gardiner finished unbeaten on 94, sharing in two century partnerships along the way as Henty successfully chased Lockhart's imposing 250. He added 113 for the second wicket with Mark White 47 and then a rapid fire 107 with Greg Schuller 53.

Earlier in the day, the Swampies' bowlers were very erratic with 12 no balls and 17 wides.

The Rock Yerong Creek posted an upset victory over last year's premiers at Rand, with Todd Hannam again playing a starring role.

Rand won the toss and batted first. Bryce Swift led the way with 39, with Kye Porter (23) and Brayden Ralston (27) helping the side post 7/151.

Ryan Kirkwood, Col Hagen and Aaron Ridley all took two wickets for the Creekers after Rand was struggling early at 4/46. In reply, Hannam batting at number three played a gem of an innings finishing on (78), with Oscar Willis unbeaten on 20.

Ralston and his brother Clinton were the pick of the Pigeons' bowlers as TRYC got home with two overs to spare.

Walla won back the Courage Cup with a comfortable win over last year's grand finalist at Walbundrie.

The Grasshoppers posted an excellent 6/217 after winning the toss, with a few usual suspects leading the run scoring.

Chris Hutchison (70) and Tommy Simmons (69) put on a brilliant stand of 127 for the third wicket.

Alex McMaster was the best of the Walbundrie bowlers with 4/24. In reply, Walbundrie was bundled out for just 106 in the 26th over, with only Jarrod Millar (41) and McMaster (19) looking threatening.

Matt Linklater showed great early season form with the ball taking 6/24 and Mark Taylor 2/16 as the home side collapsed from 1/58 to 6/67.

Brocklesby Burrumbuttock made a great start to its newly merged club by thrashing Culcairn by nine wickets.

The match lasted just 22 overs and finished before 3pm. Trent I'Anson took 4/5 off six overs in a devastating spell, while Mitch Sivell claimed three wickets and Keith Tallent 2/14.

No Culcairn batsman made double figures, with Lachlan Knobel the top scorer with eight. David Williams top scored for the Saints with 23 no.
