That was because Maksymow stopped taking anti-anxiety medication without permission.
If he had been directed to do so by a doctor, Albury Local Court was told yesterday, he would not have breached the conditions of his stay at the Calgary facility in Wagga.
Magistrate Rodney Brender varied bail for Maksymow, 27, so he could live at his aunt's home in Perry Street, Albury, until he was sentenced next Tuesday.
Maksymow spent eight months in custody before finally being granted bail in April over an attack on his ex-partner at her Springdale Heights home
The assault took place before the Hume League semi-final on September 8.
Initially, he was supposed to be released from Junee jail on April 10, though this was delayed to the end of the month until a place at Calgary could be secured.
Maksymow arrived at court yesterday with his aunt and other supporters.
Other conditions he must obey as part of the varied bail are that cannot consume alcohol or drugs other than that prescribed by a doctor.
He must observe conditions of an apprehended violence order in place against him and is required to attend meetings of both Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
Defence solicitor David Rofe said Maksymow stopped taking his anti-anxiety medication because the drugs were "disturbing his sleep".
Mr Rofe said Maksymow completed the first six weeks of his rehabilitation program.
But its completion had been delayed by four weeks, which, he said, took Maksymow's program past his June 25 sentence date.
Maksymow had been living at Maddingley, near Bacchus Marsh, before he went into custody over the assault.
Representative Jessica Dawson said the Director of Public Prosecutions consented to the bail variation application.
Ms Dawson said the Crown was "in a position to proceed to sentence" on Tuesday.
A sentence assessment report would be ready by tomorrow, Mr Brender was told, as Maksymow had been interviewed by NSW Community Corrections.
The former Henty forward will be sentenced on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contravene an apprehended violence order, stalk or intimidate and unlicensed driving. A charge of aggravated break and enter with intent was dropped.
