Henty Active Arts Inc is Tatting this month. Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace from a series of knots and loops. Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well as doilies, collars, accessories, and other decorative pieces. They are going to have a few spare tatting shuttles and cotton available for those that are interested in this old art form. Contact Debbie or Bec at the Henty Post Office for additional information.
The Max Davidson Shield, for spelling, was held at the Henty Public School Hall. The shield is a Rotary Club of Henty project and following the disbanding of the club, the Lions Club of Henty has taken up the challenge of continuing the competition. The shield now boasts both the Rotary and Lions Club emblems. Six teams from local schools entered with the winning team consisting of Hannah Male and Maddison Heanes. The students received their shield from Max Davidson's daughter Mrs Kate Finlayson. The girls also received a cheque for $100 for their school and $25 each for themselves from Lions Club president Mrs Julie Colley.
Guest speaker at the June Probus meeting was Mrs Danielle Burns from the Department of Fair Trading. She outlined the many different scams in society today and the ways in which people could avoid them.
The new sign in at the southern end of Bicentennial Park sure lights the way into Henty - an excellent promotion.
