Maksymow was supposed to have left Junee jail on April 10 so he could attend the Calgary rehabilitiation facility in Wagga. But his bail was not finalised until his case was mentioned in Albury Local Court yesterday. Maksymow has been in custody for eight months over an attack on his ex-partner at her Springdale Heights home before the Hume League semi-final on September 8.
The court was told how the release order for Maksymow was made on April 10, though this could not happen without a place for Maksymow at Calvary.
Maksymow was not required to front court so he did not appear yesterday, as he has previously, via a video link to Junee. At his last court appearance, he told Mr Brender he strongly wished to undergo rehabilitation. With that, Mr Brender ordered that Maksymow obey the orders of the rehabilitation centre's staff and front court again on June 4 but given the delay over him commencing bail, Mr Brender changed that next appearance date to June 25 to allow for the preparation of a sentence assessment report.
