Played in warm autumn conditions both teams turned on a great contest in front of a large crowd, with Lions' better accuracy contributing to their victory.
The Saints blew a great chance to open up a big half time lead when they converted just three goals from 11 scoring chances in the second term.
Culcairn turned around a two-goal deficit at the main break to open up a six-point lead going into the final term that was a cracker.
Both teams kicked five goals as the momentum and lead changed several times before a Dane Hallinan screamer in the goal square and subsequent goal put the Saints down.
Hallinan along with Zac Mona, Jye Shields and Ben Gould were Culcairn's best, while for the Saints Matt Seiter and Luke Schilg were outstanding.

OSBORNE completely outclassed a disappointing Henty, winning the local derby by 63 points in a one-sided second half at Henty.
After leading at half time Henty failed to score a goal in the second half as the Tigers ran rampant with a withering finish.
The visitors played some of their best football in years in the final term kicking 8-6 to nil to stun the large home crowd.
Azzi Medalist Jamie Parr, Michael Driscoll, Declan Galvin and Sam Rutland were superb, with Parr booting three goals in a best on ground showing.
Heath Ohlin, in his 150th match for Henty, was excellent but did not have enough support to threaten the impressive Tigers.

HOLBROOK notched up its first win for the 2019 season with a grinding 29-point win over Jindera, at Jindera.
The Bulldogs looked a great chance for a win when in posted an excellent six goal second term to lead at half time by nine points.
However, just like Henty, they did not boot a goal in the second half as Holbrook through the good work of Jacob Way, Brendan Dess and Cooper Walsh got the job done.
Up forward, Andrew Dess and Andrew Dear both booted four goals, with good supply from Andrew Taylor and Lachie Holmes.
Jindera were best served by the ever reliable Tom Weldon and Ryan Speed, but just two goals in three of the quarters was never going to win them the match.

LOCKHART remain on top of the ladder after a thrilling two point win over the much-improved Billabong Crows at Oaklands.
The Demons were given a massive boost with former coach Jordan Harrington making a cameo appearance and starring role.
Harrington was home from Adelaide where he is playing in the SANFL. His side had no game this weekend and his performance got the visitors over the line.
The back-to-back wins by the Demons to start the season is the first time it has done that since the 2012 season.
The Crows, who were also looking for back-to-back wins, were attacking deep in its forward 50 when the siren sounded.

HOWLONG also remain unbeaten following its comfortable 64-point win over CDHBU at Howlong to sit in third position.
After a sluggish start the Spiders stepped into full throttle after quarter time with 2018 Azzi Medal winner Steve Jolliffe leading the way with countless possessions.
Alex Popko was dangerous up forward with four goals, while Ryan Cannon three provided a wonderful attacking option.
Ben Baker, Matt McDonald and Peter Hancock dominated the midfield for Howlong, with its eight goal second term the highlight.
Kane Mills was best for the Power, with Brad Talbot, Jay O'Donoghue, Nathan McClelland and Wade Dickson four quarter triers.

RAND Walbundrie Walla Giants as expected won easily at Urana Road in Lavington against an improved Murray Magpies.
The Magpies after failing to kick a goal in round one finished with six for the match in a very lack luster encounter.
Blake Lieschke and Myles Aalbers were the shining lights up forward with five goals each, with Chris Hutchison and Josh Star solid performers.
Magpies veteran midfielder Daniel Maher was outstanding for the home side winning many possessions in a lion hearted performance.
