Riverina Group held its Handicraft and Land Cookery Day at Euberta in the hall this week, and early that morning the Euberta girls washed the hall and supper room, removing the dust from the dust storm the afternoon before, so a big thank you to them.

At the Riverina Handicraft Day, Oura won the trophy while Euberta came a close second in the section for larger branches with 16 members and over.
For the smaller branches with 15 members and under, Coolamon took out first place, with Galore second.
The Champion Piece of the day was won by Galore's Kaye Geppert with a beautiful patchwork quilt.
The Novice Section was won by Lea Warren, Oura Branch, with a cotton crochet christening set and the Creativity Award went to Freda Cook, Oura Branch, with a crocheted sewing lady.
Annette Forsythe, Group Handicraft Officer said there were some beautiful pieces on display of many different crafts, including a lovely trinket box made by a male member.
At the Land Cookery Competition the great cooks from the group were there in earnest, with 100 entries in the various sections, a record for recent years anyway.
The judges, Mrs Judy Findlay and Mrs Rita Spencer from Barellan, had the, sometimes difficult, task of picking out the prize winners.
When the overall points were added up, Oura and Pleasant Hills tied for first place, with 62 points and Euberta was third with 44 points, so well done to these branches.
Ironically these two branches tied in first place two years ago with the same number of points.
The two new Jan Battersby Perpetual Memorial trophies for the junior sections were won by Louise Hasler, Pleasant Hills Branch for the 18yrs and under section, and Ivy Chobdzynski, Oura Branch, in the 12yrs and under section.
There were some very nice cakes, and the aroma from the fruit cakes and puddings while they were being judged was mouth-watering.
During the judging, members were entertained with a wide variety of topics.
Mrs Barbara Parnell showed some of her talent in flower arranging and Mrs Ann Adams discussed and demonstrated the finer points of cooking and what the judges were looking for in the cooking competitions.
Mrs Jane Smith also demonstrated the art of card making.
Overall, it was a very successful day, and we wish all the members whose entries have been picked to go on to State Conference in May, which this year is being held in Albury, all the very best.
