MORE than 80 people turned up to a meet the candidates forum in Wagga to discuss issues on the table in the lead up to the NSW state election.

Historically Wagga was a safe seat until the by-election last year. Now any predictions about who will win the seat hang in the balance.
NSW Farmers Wagga district branch chairman Alan Brown said the forum attracted seven candidates:
- Dr Joe McGirr; Member for Wagga Wagga- Independent
- Mackenna Powell; The Nationals
- Daniel Hayes: NSW Labor
- Mr Seb McDonagh- Shooters, Fishers and Farmers
- Mr Colin Taggert- Australian Conservatives
- Ray Goodlass - Greens, NSW
- Matt Quade - Independent
Mr Brown said the questions asked of candidates were broad and not necessarily focused on agriculture or primary industries. He said there appeared to be an emphasis on state issues.
"I got a report from the moderator (Professor Lyndall Angel) and she said the questions were answered well by the candidates," she said.
Mr Brown said it was pleasing to see so many people attend the Wagga forum. He said the outcome of the upcoming election was certainly something of interest for those in the rural industry.
"What it did provide was an opportunity for the electorate to see their candidates," he said.
